How long does SEO take?

 

The length of time it takes to optimize a website for search engine optimization will vary on the following:

• Current placements within the search engines.(If your site currently ranks well within the popular search engines such as MSN, Live, Yahoo, and Google, then your site will be visited more frequently by these search engines.  This will most likely result in a quicker listing.)
• Current pagerank.(Pagerank is the search engines way of determining how important your website is.  The higher your pagerank the better and more frequently your pages will be visited by the search engine spiders.)
• Campaign analytics. (Often times, the first attempt to gain a desired listing in the popular search engines can be unsuccessful.  In this event, an in depth analysis is required to determine what should be done to resolve the listing.)
• Keyword competition.  (The more companies or websites there are in competition for search engine ranking based on a particular keyword(s), the more difficult the seo campaign.)

Keeping the 4 topics above in mind, most optimization for websites will result in a better listing in the search engines in as little as 3 weeks.  For more competitive keywords, SEO campaigns may take as long as 6 months before your site gains a favorable search engine listing.

 

If time is crucial, you should consider enrolling in a pay per click advertising campaign at least until your seo work is complete.
