How long does it take to build a website?

The typical timeframe for website construction can range from 2 weeks to 3 months or more depending on the size and complexity of the website.

In some cases a website that should be completed in 2 weeks may take longer, but can be avoided.  Having a website plan that includes all content, images, and details to use for building your website will assist your web designer immensely with keeping your website budget intact.

The best action to take to ensure timely completion on any website is to ask your designer / developer for a checklist of all components that will be required for the construction of the website.  Ensure that the project details and requirements are clearly stated or outlined before the project begins. A good web construction plan will help you avoid significant project delays.

Custom website designs obviously require more time to develop than a boxed template. While templates can save time, it's also nice knowing that your website is unique. The additional time required to construct a unique customized website can be minimized by providing your designer with the following:

  • All colors to be used in your design...be specific.
  • Provide samples of existing websites you like.
  • Clearly identify your target market.
  • Page, product, or service to emphasize most.
  • Existing marketing material if available
